Medical Insurance Plans for Students

Something that is commonly at the very bottom of the list when planning an education is medical insurance for college students. Most students are in the mindset where health insurance is not the first thing on their mind. Teens are likely to think they will be around forever and of course they can not find themselves suffering from an illness.

However, this is seldom accurate however well an individual may seem. An inexpensive medical insurance policy is not simply a luxury, it’s absolutely necessary.

For those fortunate to be included in their parent’s insurance policy, virtually all of them will cover a college student up to their twenty third birthday. For the student who does not have coverage through their family policy, looking into an appropriate student health insurance policy must be an integral part of getting ready for a further education.

What’s fundamental in an insurance policy designed for students? Deductibles: It’s a yearly payment that has to be made before any medical benefits are available, the same as an auto deductible. To use an example, should the deductible be $500, five hundred dollars must be paid before receiving any benefits connected with the plan.

What is your co-pay? When you meet the deductible, nearly all insurance plans expect you to contribute a part of the cost of each visit to the physician, medicinal drug or procedure. This is called co-pay. What’s your range of coverage? Virtually all plans are HMO and Partnership for Prescription Assistance (PPA). This often means certain doctors might not be in your “network” and might not be included under a medical insurance policy. A directory of participating health professionals should be included with your insurance plan, so read that before choosing a health insurance policy for college students.

What exactly does the term catastrophic insurance coverage imply? You should be aware that there is often a limit on health insurance targeted at college students in particular with reference to critical illness, and for most medical insurance policies for college students, the cover is generally substantially less than a regular medical insurance plan.

What about the restrictions? Limits are very standard in college student health insurance. Make sure you read over your policy to check what your insurance will cover.

Have all your medical insurance documentation in your wallet everywhere. Illnesses are not only not possible to plan for, they’re also liable to happen when not convenient. Acquaint yourself with your student medical insurance plan even should you be included in a parent’s policy.

Ipod Nano Review

In this age of portable music, the iPod has downloaded itself into the public consciousness…where it won’t be leaving any time soon. Not that we mind. Despite a large pool of reputable competitors, such as Sony and Dell, who manufacture their own slick mp3 gizmos, the iPod is still the most popular and best-selling of the bunch. Just think of buying an mp3 player, and I bet your knee-jerk reaction will at least be to consider, if not choose, the iPod.

When Apple Computers’ CEO Steve Jobs unveiled the iPod Nano in San Francisco’s Moscone Center, it immediately became known as the smallest member of the display-bearing iPod family line and successor to the iPod mini (the updated version of which was released a mere 7 months prior to the Nano). Compatible with both Mac and Windows-based computers, the iPod Nano comes in two colors, white and black. You also have your choice of a 2GB version ($199) or a 4GB version ($249), which is a bit steep given the fact that the iPod mini held the same price tag for the 4GB and 6GB models, respectively. The iPod Nano’s storage drive is flashed-based, which means no moving parts inside (decreased wear-and-tear and breakage potential), higher durability, and no sound skips while jogging, biking, or stumbling home after happy hour. Given the increasing capacities and capabilities of flash drives, I wouldn’t be surprised if some day Apple starts implementing this technology into more of its major products. But that’s for another article.

The first thing one is likely to notice is that the Nano, as its name implies, is tiny. You have to actually hold one to see just how astonishingly small this device is, and my first thought was that the small pocket of my jeans might now finally serve a greater purpose. The Nano measures 3.5″ long, 1.6″ wide (smaller surface area than a credit card), and just .27″ thick (thinner than a AAA battery). Sleek and serene, the Nano is characterized by the simple elegance familiar to Apple fans. Yes, it certainly is a gorgeous-looking little machine due in no small part to the shiny, thin layer of acrylic applied to its surface. But the downside to the finish is its susceptibility to scratching and/or fingerprints (especially on the black version of the Nano). Weighing in at only 1.5 ounces you could conceivably move the Nano across a flat surface by sneezing on it, though I don’t recommended this for health reasons.

The main features: Like all other iPods, the Nano is primarily designed to play digitized music such as mp3 files. And like its relatives, the Nano excels when doing what it does best. According to my research, the Nano uses the same sound chip as the Mini, and as mentioned before, overall quality is excellent. The included earbuds do a decent job delivering the sound, though I would prefer higher-end headphones to take full advantage of the audio experience. Fiddling with the included equalizer settings also seems to make noticeable sound adjustments, so fickle sound connoisseurs may have something to smile at here.

Owners of previous iPods shouldn’t have a problem navigating the interface, as selecting songs, play-lists, and the like using the touch-sensitive click-wheel is still as user-friendly as ever (but I hate leaving behind those darn fingerprints!). Setting up and connecting to iTunes on both Mac and Windows machines was smooth and straightforward as well. According to information available at Apple’s website, the 2GB iPod Nano holds 500 songs while the 4GB version stores about 1,000, assuming that the average song is 4 minutes long and compressed at 128 kbps using AAC encoding. And like the larger iPods, the Nano recognizes songs encoded in the following formats: mp3, AAC (and protected AAC format from the iTunes Music Store), AIFF, and WAV.

Unlike the iPod mini, however, the Nano sports a color display as well as the same photo capabilities as the top-of-the-line iPod Photo. This might have been a “just because we can” idea cooked up by the engineers over in Cupertino, as I received some strange looks while sharing my latest photos on a screen that’s barely the size of a postage stamp. But I admit it’s a fun feature to be included on such a small device. Complete with the usual organization options, you are able to create slideshows (with music and transition effects) and categorize your pictures any way you want. The Nano recognizes images in the following formats: JPEG, GIF, PSD (Mac only), TIFF, BMP, and PNG. I’ll take this time to note that the camera connector for the iPod Photo, used for transferring pictures directly from a digital still camera to the iPod Photo, will not work with the iPod Nano. Also, other current third party devices such as voice recorders and FM transmitters are not currently compatible with the Nano.

There are also features that exist exclusively on the iPod Nano, such as the World Clock function, which allows you to see the local time anywhere in the world. Once you select a region (or major international city), a clock will appear on the display. The clock graphic will darken or lighten depending on what time of day it is at the other region, which is handy for frequent travelers. Feel like prank calling your friends in Egypt at 3AM local time? The iPod Nano can help! (Of course, I do not condone this sort of behavior- use this feature to make sure you don’t accidentally call your friends in Egypt at 3AM).

Other Nano-exclusive features include a screen lock and stopwatch. The screen lock allows you to create a 4-digit combination to prevent others from going through your music and photos. This would seem like an effective method of deterring would-be thieves (or nosy exes), but since I already have so many passwords and codes in my life to remember I can do without it. Besides, such a pricey gadget like the Nano should be kept in a safe place anyway. The stopwatch feature is pretty neat, and allows you to record your best lap times or to keep track of how long tech support puts you on hold.

Battery life: The iPod Nano claims 14 hours of music playback, though battery consumption increases when using the photo slideshow functions with music playing in the background. Charging via the included USB 2.0 cable, which connects to the dock connector on its underside, it takes the Nano about an hour and a half to reach 80% capacity, and 3 hours to achieve a full charge. At present, the iPod Nano is not firewire capable. In my research I’ve also learned that the Nano’s battery appears to be permanently soldered into the unit, which leads me to question the feasibility (or even possibility) of future battery replacement. Information regarding this will be updated as it is found.

Included items:
- USB 2.0 cable (backwards compatible with USB 1.1). This connects via the dock
connector underneath the Nano. NOTE: Don’t confuse the dock connector with the
dock itself. The iPod Nano dock is an accessory that costs an extra $29. Over USB 2.0,
the Nano transfers music at about 5 mb per second.

- iTunes software (Mac & PC)

- Earbud headpones: They’re white, (even for the black iPod Nano).

PROS:
Great sound quality, easy to use, beautifully stylish, extremely lightweight, portable, and durable. Nice color display, handy extras such as photo viewing and international clocks. Flash memory design prevents skipping, integrates easily with iTunes. Mac and Windows compatible.

CONS:
High price for relatively small drive space (compared to other iPod models), lack of more advanced iPod features/support, no present firewire capability, surface smudges and scratches easily if not protected.

OVERALL:
Despite the relatively hefty price tag for its storage capacity, the new iPod Nano by Apple is certainly a cool device for most gotta-have-it gadget-philes and for those who just want a reliable, easy-to-use high quality mp3 player. If you want to play your favorite songs while relaxing or running, the Nano and its few extra functions will make you happy. Those who are big on more complex functions may be disappointed with the present lack of features available (no support for FM transmitter, camera connector, firewire, etc.). But its ease-of-use, intuitive interface, style, and quality make this a very difficult gizmo to resist.

Spring Horse Racing Carnival

For Australia, we adore our horse racing and we figured we’d feature Australia’s greatest or perhaps most well known carnival, Its’ Melbourne Spring Festival. Relax back & enjoy as we guide people through Australia’s biggest race around Australia, unfolding Victoria’s stars of Victoria’s Turf and of course the trainers with jockeys at the center of this incredible industry. This is Melbourne’s finest time for punters to acquire their money’s worth.

Once we finally get beyond Derby Day and by god it’s a huge race, we anticipate ourselves for the day that stops a nation, The Melbourne Cup. Ever since the commencement of the race, the stories of Archer being walked down from Sydney to challenge the Cup and who won the 1st two runnings of it to boot, Aussies have been engaged. Victorians even get a public holiday to celebrate!

The love affair which was Makybe Diva & the Australian population was something to be admired. Makybe was why individuals continued going to the track. To win three Melbourne Cups in progression is something else that we seemingly won’t ever see again. What about the surprised Aussies got when Dermot Weld came out & took our Trophy back to Ireland back in ‘93 with Vintage Crop. Or perhaps when he did it again back in ‘02 with Media Puzzle. What about Sheila Laxon winning with Ethereal, or the acclaimed Might & Power and Doriemus photo finish. The rain poured down back in ‘74 & Van Der Hum swam home.

And then maybe there was Bart. JB Cummings. The Cups King. The man who has trained the Melbourne Cup hero a lazy eleven times. With horses such as Light Fingers, Galilee, Think Big (twice), Hyperno, Let’s Elope and Saintly triumphanting for him in the past. Back in 2008 punters & bookies alike were hoping Viewed could do it for the Cup Kings and make that weary eleven a decent dozen over the screen & who would have though the soon to be 80 year old would really do it. Well executed Bart, you are actually the king of the Turf. With so many TAB and online sports betting websites in Australia, punters can easily place their bets.

We will also not forget the hot water Luca Cumani & second spot winner Bauer landed in after it was apparent the horse received shockwave therapy, against regulations in a period of seven days of the Melbourne Cup. The commotion was phenomenal, particularly after it was discovered an RVL selected vet guided the therapeutics.

Compatibility Designed to Last

Firstly, I cannot say I’m terribly satisfied being picky and not crack a smile. Even then, I’m not uncomfortable in that way, either. I just bring it up here as an ear-catching piece of info setting up the story I am about to reveal to you

This time last week I met for coffee with Sandy, pondering about joining Great Expectations Dallas. You prolly couldn’t guess that, I type to you as a surprisingly pleased member of the singles network. For real, and I almost don’t believe it myself! Its very comfortable and full of nice people! If you know me at all, perhaps you’re thinkin’, “Stop blabbering and tell me about it already.”

Here’s how it went down, I saw these Great Expectations Reviews and can really get behind their approach. They’re for quality and professional singles who care enough to know dating should have a point.

Because I’d never been too big on what serial daters (ie: everyone I know) call “The Dating Game.” I got it more than you know. Every night friends nagg, “Are you two serious yet?” and “Please tell me you two are dating.”

“Ugh, and double ugh.” I banter right back, smiling ear to ear. “There’s nothing to date!”

“Not true,” they reply. “You haven’t dated in a year, you wouldn’t know!”

Leave it to my partner in crime The One-And-Only (hehe) Trisha McCarthy. She beams the best ideas to my mind 99% of the time. Caring souls I depend on . No countering that, and I thank her for it.

Back to the theme of this essay. As I browsed from more than three hundred combinations of outfits for my first date with Great Expectations, I acknowledged something true. For years, I hadn’t allowed myself any emotional great expectations for dating in the fun-filled journey of this world. It’s good to be single, specifically if you take the opportunity to meet new people. Having great expectations makes a difference on a cynics social life.

Government Overregulation of Broadcast Content Could Backfire

Rush is right! The government’s stepped up bid to regulate broadcast television content is indeed frightening. Limbaugh made his comments during one of his regular radio broadcasts last year. Those remarks were in response to the FCC’s crackdown on broadcast indecency and Congress’ threats to hand out much larger fines to broadcasters for such violations, in the wake of Janet Jackson’s “wardrobe malfunction” at the Super Bowl halftime show last February.

Limbaugh is the not only media personality alarmed by this intensified government scrutiny of television content. At the beginning of his news program on CNN during that same time frame, Aaron Brown said he thought the only thing worse than Jackson’s Super Bowl debacle is the fact that the government is now getting involved in trying to prevent similar incidents in the future. Amen, Aaron!

Television, like any other business in a capitalistic society like ours, is and should be governed by the marketplace and the laws of supply and demand. I would love to see more family-friendly television programming. However, if there were truly a great demand for it, there would naturally be a lot more of it in existence (as well as a lot less of the offensive stuff). The folks who are pushing the hardest for greater government intervention to make TV more family-friendly will assert that they are in the majority of viewers and listeners in the U.S. However, the facts belie this assertion.

Of the seven broadcast networks, PAX, widely recognized as the most family-friendly, is last in the ratings. It’s not just last, it is dead last! PAX gets about one-fourth of the audience of the sixth place network! Even in places that don’t have a local PAX affiliate, it is usually available as a cable channel. However, it’s not even among the 30 top-rated cable channels. On the other hand, some of the TV shows and cable networks with the most controversial material get the highest ratings. Go figure.

In reality, those who are clamoring the loudest for TV to “clean up its act” know they are in the minority. Instead of tuning their TVs to PAX or one of the other tamer channels (as I do) or even turning their TVs completely off, they go running to the government to force their tastes on everyone else. Oddly enough, most of these people consider themselves conservatives. Funny, I thought conservatives disdained government intervention in favor of allowing the marketplace to take its course. Where did I ever get such a silly idea?

What these people seemingly don’t realize is that their efforts could very well backfire on them and all the rest of us. Broadcasters have generally submitted to the concepts of the V-chip and content ratings to help parents regulate their children’s TV viewing in their homes. After all, isn’t that what all of this hoopla is about? They have also meekly accepted reasonable fines from time to time for indecent broadcasts. However, the vocal minority is now demanding that the FCC and Congress play hardball, i.e., impose very large and numerous fines as well as revoking the licenses of stations found guilty of indecent broadcasts. In response to this demand, there are now bills circulating in both houses of Congress that would increase fines to the range of $250,000 to $3 million per violation along with threatening license revocation for habitual offenders.

Many people forget that the FCC and Congress are not the final arbiters of these matters. The courts are. In the past, the courts have vigorously defended the First Amendment and I believe they will continue this trend. By playing hardball, the FCC and Congress will leave broadcasters with no other option but to take them to court. Even though the courts have, in the past, upheld the FCC’s reasonable jurisdiction over broadcast TV, things could change if the government’s newly attempted heavy-handed penalties are challenged. Long ago, the courts stripped away the government’s “right” to regulate indecency on cable and satellite channels. If the government decides it really wants to play hardball with broadcasters, it could ultimately lose any jurisdiction over broadcast content as well.

But let’s suppose the government’s more restrictive regulations are upheld by the courts. That’s definitely a possibility. However, because of the greatly increase fines and the possibility of license revocation, the courts will likely force the FCC to be more specific and draw up more detailed indecency guidelines. They are currently vague, to say the least.

I’ll use the following illustration to demonstrate how vague the FCC’s current guidelines really are. Let’s suppose that none of the roads or highways we all drive on everyday had posted speed limits. Instead, let’s suppose they just had signs warning us not to drive too fast. Then let’s suppose that the police were allowed to subjectively write tickets whenever they thought someone was driving too fast, but would never actually define what they thought “too fast” really was. That’s similar to how the FCC operates. It doesn’t provide any specific guidelines and only investigates a claim of indecency when someone files a complaint. It never explicitly states what a broadcaster can and cannot do.

Now, going back to our speeding analogy, let’s suppose that we (along with the courts) tolerated this kind of speed enforcement because the fines were relatively small and no one’s license was ever revoked. However, what do you think would happen if the governing authority decided to greatly increase the fines for speeding and allow the possibility of license revocations for such violations, without giving us specific speed limits? We would not stand still for such a thing and neither would the courts. Posted speed limits would be mandated.

With the FCC forced to write more specific rules governing indecency, it could find itself in a very precarious position. If, for example, the FCC strictly forbids specific words from being used and/or specific body parts from being shown on broadcast TV, it will invite another court battle that it will probably lose. However, if it explicitly lists situations in which certain words can be used and/or certain body parts can be shown, broadcasters will begin to find loopholes in these rules and exploit them. We all know that the more specific a law or rule is, the easier it is to find loopholes in it.

The bottom line is that more aggressive enforcement of indecency regulations on broadcast TV and radio could backfire and actually lead to even racier content. Members of Congress would be advised to look before they leap.

Boston Brand Building - Brand Identity Guru

“Make no little plans, they have no magic to stir your blood… MAKE BIG PLANS. Aim high in hope and work.” So wrote Daniel H. Burnham in the last century. The big plans are important. They capture your vision. The next step is to break them down into “do-able” chunks, chunks that can be done in even one day. That is what gives you a definite sense of accomplishment, isn’t it? The big plans are necessary, the baby steps, imperative!

An associate shared a marketing tip with me the other day. She said, “Go big, or go home”. I thought about this quite a bit as it seemed so brash and arrogant. Great slogan, but what about the little guy? Then, it all made sense. Each person has the opportunity to define ‘big’ for herself. If we are to live our dreams and visions about how we want our lives to be, how we want to be remembered, what our contribution to our daily world could be, it IS true. Go big or go home!

Have a vision. Have a master plan for your whole life as you presently see it. What would you like to be doing, experiencing, being or having in your life, sometime in your life? What are the things that are most important, significant and valuable to you? That’s big!

After you have created the “big picture” then you can decide what you would like to create immediately and pay attention to that. Timing is only one difference between short and long term goals. Another important difference is that short term goals lead directly to long term goals which fit perfectly into the master plan. And the good news is….you are in charge! You can change your master plan, and your approach to it, as your interests and priorities shift and grow. You are not locked in. A master plan is a plan for joy and passion, not a plan for duty and obligation.

It is useful to break your goals down into three categories: current, near future and far future. Once you have put your future goals into your subconscious mind, they are begun. It is not only action that is required. Keeping your goals in the forefront of your mind is key. Thoughtfully craft your current goals. Know how you will measure your success and plan for it.
Think big! Think limitlessly. Think “out of the box”. People are often limited by their minds unwillingness to stretch. Remember what Napoleon Hill said: “…if you can conceive it, and believe it, you can achieve it!”

If you find yourself surrounded by people who are ‘thinking little’ it might be difficult to find support and acceptance for your big plans. You may have to include some new associates who want to play ‘big’, too! You have probably heard that, if you want to run with the big dogs, you have to get off the porch! Jump off that porch and get running!

Reflect on the biggest view of your life–your master plan. Is it big enough for you? Does it cause you to stretch to get your arms around it? If not, think a little bigger and see where it takes you. If it does, be sure you have planned the route that will get you there. Then, follow it. As you embark on each task today, ask yourself, “Am I on the road to my vision by doing this?” If not, make a correction.

Go big or go home! That one little phrase keeps me on my toes.

Acquire Cheap Tennis Items on the World Wide Web Today

The appropriate equipment and the correct court are imperative for a marvellous game of tennis. Below is an outline of the basic provisions.

Racket Range: A well weighted, skilfully made racquet is a fine investment for fantastic tennis. Fifty to one-hundred pounds invested in a tennis racket of nationally known quality will be money well spent. The grip of the tennis racket is advised to be small. A circumference of four and a half inches is advised for novices. Enjoy excellent tennis and football videos offers on the Internet today.

Most of the existing rackets balance heavier in the grip than in the head for faster action. When choosing a tennis racket, the player is advised swing a couple different racquets & choose the specific one that best suits them.

Treatment of Racquet: The racquet ought to be put in a press and waterproof holder at all times when it is not being used. For the duration of the winter months it is suggested to be located in a dry location, where no dampness can get at it. Otherwise the string threads are very likely to go bad & the structure to get out of shape.

Tennis Nets: Cotton nets (costing about 12 pounds) are all right for relaxed use in the fitness centre or improvised lawn courts.

Outdoor tennis nets ought to be constructed of tarred hemp, with a tough canvas top, and steel or rope cable. If strung on a steel cable, the tennis net can indeed be left out over night without slaking, however with a rope cable, the tennis net requires to be loosened at night. Tennis nets will last many years longer if they are brought in at night and when it rains. A high-quality net is likely to cost approximately twenty to sixty pounds. Steel nets, completely weatherproof, are rising in popularity in particular for winter play.

The Pros and Cons of Val D’Isere in the Alps

Among Europe’s most famed skiing areas, Val d’Isre brags 549 km of marked pistes. Skiing gets going during early November and closes in the beginning of May. Val d’Isere provides everything for you. The resort unfolds down the valley from La Daille as far as Le Fornet with the apres ski in the centre of Val d’Isere itself. The clustering of appealing homes incorporate smart dress shops many of which have developed since the resort was picked for the 1992 Winter Olympics.

Broken into 3 areas Val d’Isre has plenty of slopes for all levels of skiers. It has a good snow record, the town is hugely fashionable amidst pro skiers and mileage hungry intermediates, however you do not have to be particularly adventurous to enjoy what is on offer. One can easily see why a lot of British are attracted to the domain, with its crazy nightlife and the variety of entertainment on offer, moreover the near proximity of Tignes allows you to head out to calmer areas if it all becomes a bit much.

Pros

A superior apres ski in the Alps. Everybody understands English. Quick approach to both Val d’Isre and Tignes known collectively as the Espace Killy ski area which is perfect for skiing holidays. There’s a lot of cars and though there are regular buses in the daytime, dedicated party animmals had better aim to be within a short walking distance from the centre.

Cons

Pricy. Hectic and fashionable with English clientle, so not for people wanting a typical French ski resort to enjoy a stress free ski holiday. A lot of lifts can shut in bad weather. Several challenging blue and green pistes.

Durom Recall Lawsuits Arriving Extremely Promptly

Many citizens of the US get joint replacements each year. It is a method for senior citizens or anyone with worn out joints to obtain additional years of being active and enjoying life. Patients trust that a procedure such as this is so common and routine, they don’t question their doctors opinions nor do they question the manufacturers of their joint replacements about the quality of the product being implanted into them. This has tended to cause practices which could even produce damage to you or those you care about. If you know someone who has received a hip replacement, read on for this important information about the manufacturer zimmer durom hip.

The current hip replacement surgery has been happening since the 1970’s, which is why it may seem so ordinary to one. A hip replacement, like those made by Durom, typically involve three individual pieces designed to mock how an organic knee joint would. They include a metal replacement for part of the femur. A bone cement or screws to hold the contraption in place allows movement like the joint naturally would.

A further surgery to correct issues with the implant or the need for revision is the one of the most common issues with hip replacements. Many older and even some young and healthy patients just can’t tolerate it, unfortuately. This is the special target of the zimmer hip class action. The Durom device was used by doctors in younger patients that would normally need a hip replacement, as it was designed to be long lasting. It created a bit of controversy that two years later, nearly 12% of the patients needed to be operated on again.

In the last several years you or someone you know had a hip replacement, ask your doctor if it was done by Zimmer Durom. In the event that it was, whether your hip replacement has failed or not at this point, you can participate in a legal class action. If Durom reaches you don’t sign anything or you could lose this right.
